Home remedies, fruits to treat pain during menstruation cycle

Cooked banana flower when eaten with curd is a good cure for menstrual pains. It also works as an effective medicine for excessive bleeding. The banana flower is known to increase the progesterone harmone which reduces the bleeding.

Ginger is also similar properties. A piece of fresh ginger should be pounded and boiled in a cupful of water for a few minutes. The infusion sweetened with sugar should then be taken three times every day after meals as a medicine for dysmenorrhoea (dysmenorrhea), and amenorrhoea (amenorrhea), due to exposure to cold winds and taking cold baths.

Menstruation irregularities:

The unripe papaya helps the contraction of the muscles fibres of the womb and is beneficial in having proper menstrual flow. It is helpful in cessation of the menstruation due to exposure to cold or due to fright in young unmarried girls.

Diabetes: Herbal Treatment & Indian gooseberry

Due to its high vitamin C content, Indian gooseberry (Amla or Aaonla) is considered valuable in treatment of diabetes.


A tablespoon of its juice, mixed with a cup of resh bitter gourd juice, taken daily for two months helps stimulating the islets of Lengerhans (the isolated group of cells that secrete insulin hormone).

It thus reduces the blood sugar in diabetes. Diet restriction should be strictly observed while taking thismedicine. It will also prevent eye complications in diabetes.

Equal quantity of 'Amla' powder, jamun powder and bitter gourd powder also makes a very useful food remedy for diabetics. A teaspoonful of this mixture, once or twice a day would be effective in checking the progress of the ailment.

Amla, the Urdu name for Indian gooseberry, is easily available in the Indian sub-continent, particularly in Indian and Pakistan. The other names for the Indian gooseberry are Emblica officinalis and Emblica myrobalan.
